Our Registered Veterinary Technologists are college graduates who are trained paraprofessionals in the field of veterinary medicine. They can be compared to a nurse, paramedic, medical laboratory technologist, anesthetist, radiology technologist, dental technician, and medical receptionist. Our R.V.T.’s are skilled in all of these areas which enhances patient care and the human-animal bond.
Amanda R.V.T.
Amanda graduated from the Red River College in Manitoba. Shortly after graduating, she moved to the Lower Mainland with her husband and her veterinary technology diploma. Amanda loves the daily challenges of being an R.V.T. Her favourite part is making sure her patients receive the best care from the time they enter our hospital to the time they leave, with a follow up call the next day. She keeps up with all the new anesthesia and pain management techniques. Amanda enjoys hiking with her dogs, Tesla and Winnie, biking, cross fit, yoga, snowboarding, and the occasional tasting at a local winery.
Brenna R.V.T.
Brenna has loved being around animals from a very young age and always knew that she would find a career where she could spend her days caring for them. Brenna graduated from Douglas College with her veterinary technology diploma in 2022 and joined White Rock Veterinary Hospital after completing her practicum here. She loves working with all the furry pet patients and getting to know their diverse personalities. Brenna spends her free time reading and adding to her ever-growing home library. She shares her home with a big red dog, a mischievous feline, and a blue crayfish named Carl.
Our veterinary assistants are entrusted with the special care of your pet while they are at our hospital. Your pet’s comfort is their number one priority and includes keeping them comfortable, taking them for bathroom and fresh air breaks, and tending to their food and water needs. Our assistants also help the veterinarians and R.V.T.s with diagnostic testing and treatments and are a key part of the health care team at our hospital.
Ashley, Veterinary Assistant
Ashley joined White Rock Veterinary Hospital in the autumn of 2022. As a veterinary assistant, she enjoys treating and caring for your pet and giving them the special attention they need for a comfortable stay at our hospital. She enjoys spending time with her Labrador Retriever, Oliver, going on adventures, and camping in the mountains with her family.
Christa, Veterinary Assistant
Christa made the leap into the veterinary field 8 years ago. She has held positions as practice manager and veterinary receptionist at other veterinary hospitals. She now joins the White Rock Veterinary Hospital team as a Fear Free Certified Veterinary Assistant. She has an 18 year old Chihuahua and 5 year old Rottweiler cross. In her spare time, she teaches yoga, reads, and loves to hike and kayak with her dogs.
Our receptionists are responsible for the organization of our hospital. Apart from keeping things running smoothly and maintaining our vast medical record system, they are the voices you hear on the telephone and the smiling faces that first welcome you when you enter our hospital.
Carol, Veterinary Receptionist
Carol joined White Rock Veterinary Hospital in December 2000. Her hard work and dedication to the hospital have given her the ability to be of assistance in every aspect of the hospital’s daily operation to ensure it runs smoothly. Carol shares her home with her cat, Izzy. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandpuppy, Hera.
Katherine, Veterinary Receptionist
Katherine has worked at White Rock Veterinary Hospital since November 2005. She is a certified veterinary assistant/receptionist and received her certificate from West Coast College. She has worked at various veterinary hospitals over the years, but has found a home here with us at White Rock Veterinary Hospital. She lives with her two daughters and black Labrador Retriever, Prudence.
Heather, Veterinary Receptionist
After three years working as a veterinary receptionist in Ontario, Heather has returned home to the Lower Mainland. Before moving to Ontario, she worked as a veterinary receptionist/assistant in the South Langley/Abbotsford area for 13 years. As a child, Heather grew up dog-earing the pages of the dog section of the encyclopedia. After raising her four sons, she was finally able to realize her dream of working in the animal industry. Heather now looks forward to connecting with the clients and patients of White Rock Veterinary Hospital. Heather shares her home with three Border Collies, Jazz, Blitz, and Disco, and her husband, Chris. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends, her six grandsons, four sons, two stepdaughters, and their partners, and travelling the world.
Sophie, Resident Cat
Sophie was our spoiled and well-loved resident cat. We adopted her in 2011, and she quickly became an integral part of our veterinary hospital family. Sophie spent her days napping in the doctors’ office or staff lunch room, and she helped educate pet owners on administering medications. She sadly passed away recently, and we miss her dearly. Her gentle presence will always be remembered.
